The One Thing(Keller, Gary) 본문
The core content is to think of and pursue only one action that is the most important, focused, and correct action in today's complex society.
I think the most important part of most self-help books is finding yourself.
I think it's about finding your own path by thinking about what you're good at and what you need to do.
I would like to express my personal opinion about a phrase that I think is important.
1. Correct thoughts and actions are the shortcut to success.
Because success comes from doing the right things, not doing everything right.
The secret to success is choosing the right habits and having the level of control necessary to establish them.

Let's compare drug lords and Bill Gates.
Drug lords probably have a lot of money, and Bill Gates probably has a lot of money too.
But the difference is that Bill Gates became a billionaire by doing the right thing (making computers accessible to everyone).
I think he has no problems legally and is doing well personally.
On the other hand, the drug lord has a lot of money, but he made a lot of money by doing bad things.
He has to pay money to various people, including police and politicians, and if he does something wrong, he has no choice but to go to jail.
He thinks traveling the world won't be easy either.
Criminals may have a lot of money, but they never feel comfortable in their personal lives.
Of course, even if you are not a criminal, you will always have a lot of worries because you never know when and by whom your illegally earned money will be taken away or caught.
That's why I believe we need to succeed by doing the right things.
Let's not be jealous of money earned ill-gotten.
Even if you have that kind of money, there is a high possibility that problems will continue to arise.
Only by earning the right amount of money and being successful can I be proud of myself and my family.
Would a drug lord be proud to tell his children that he made his money by doing bad things?
His message was to ask yourself, rather than asking others, what you can be good at and what you should do.
I believe that my right thoughts and concentration lead to action, become habits, and lead to success.
2. Effort and consistency are the shortcuts to success.
It turns out that it takes an average of 66 days to form a new habit.

Once you have the right idea (you know what to do using your strengths through self-reflection), it's time to put it into action.
In my case, I started thinking about reading books about two years ago, and decided that I didn't have time to buy and read regular books.
So I bought an e-book and read it anytime, anywhere. Especially when I listened to it while driving, I couldn't use the excuse that I didn't have time to read.
It's already been two years since I developed this habit, and now I just listen to books as a habit.
It feels awkward not to listen to a book while driving.
The advantage of reading books is that I developed a good habit of reading books rather than playing games on my phone or watching YouTube or Instagram when I'm bored.
Recently I decided to try a new exercise habit.
Wake up 20 minutes early in the morning and do 4 sets of 15 pushups and 4 sets of 15 squats.
I plan to gradually increase the number of sets I do, and I think this habit of building up every day will be very good for your health.
I believe that exercise, health, books, knowledge and success do not all happen overnight.
I think it depends on how prepared I am for success, how eager I am, and how hard I work.
3. Keep updating your thresholds.
As soon as you feel you have reached a reasonable level, switch off learning.

Humans have something called a threshold.
For example, there was udon that I always ate, but as I ate more delicious udon, my existing standard for delicious udon was broken.
Later, I remember the delicious udon, but I feel like the udon I ate before wasn't as tasty.
I think most actions, feelings, and emotions are similar.
Usually people think that the reason they stay within their limits is because they have not been able to overcome them.
Of course, a certain level of satisfaction is important, but if you want to push your limits and move up, you can do that.
Depending on your ability and control, you can decide where to stop.
There is no end to learning, the limit is up to you.
Even though there may be better udon somewhere in the world, if you stop somewhere along the way, you will live a satisfying life there.
