Cosmos(Carl Sagan) 본문
Reading this book, you will realize how small our existence is and how thankful we were born on this planet called Earth.
You can see that it was a great stroke of luck that life came to exist through coincidence and coincidence, that we evolved into advanced creatures, and that we were able to reach modern civilization.
I would like to talk about three things that I personally found impressive.
1. I think that scientific and technological development is the best for the development of a country and humanity.
In the history of humanity, we have witnessed many barbaric situations in which a civilization was completely destroyed by a slightly more advanced or slightly backward civilization.

The Aztec civilization, the Arawak people, and the Tlin Zit people, which are examples in the book, were destroyed due to differences in civilization and science and technology, and we were also like that.
Korea, China, and Russia all knelt before Japan, which was exposed to Western civilization early.
The African continent was also colonized by Western civilization until the late 19th century and early 20th century.
In the end, I think the difference is science and technology.
Gunpowder was first invented in China and used as firecrackers, but in the West, its purpose changed and it became guns and cannons.
When Joseon was focusing on archery, the West was developing guns and cannons.
When Joseon was building thatched houses, Britain was building subways.
Also, what about the United States?
Despite its short history, it is already far ahead of other countries in science and technology, and because it is a key currency country, isn’t it dominating the global economy?
What would it be like if Korea had accepted Western civilization before Japan?
I want people like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and Zuckerberg who have grown companies that are recognized around the world by making difficult and annoying things simple.
I think the reason these people appear is because they understand basic science and apply it to modern times.
Would Einstein have become a great scientist if he hadn’t learned the early science that was discovered in ancient times?
I hope that new inventions will occur by using science to turn existing inconveniences into conveniences.
2. Nuclear war is crazy
We can only experience full-scale nuclear war once
mobile e-book: 1015 pages
Expected number of casualties from the Hiroshima atomic bomb on August 6, 1945: approximately 140,000
Expected number of casualties from the Nagasaki atomic bomb on August 9, 1945: approximately 40,000 to 70,000 Immediate deaths
These figures are for immediate deaths, and it is expected that countless people will suffer aftereffects or die later.
If all systems and people disappear due to a nuclear attack, the country will have difficulty functioning due to the enormous chaos and loss of life.
If Russia launches a nuclear attack on Ukraine now, it is considered the beginning of a full-scale nuclear war.
The participation of neighboring countries will be unavoidable, and since the only response to nuclear weapons is nuclear weapons, a nuclear war will break out worldwide. In addition to direct casualties, I think that a full-scale nuclear war will inevitably lead to the extinction of humanity due to the aftereffects of a full-scale nuclear war, such as dust, destruction of the ozone layer, and genetic mutation.
That is why I think that touching the nuclear button or making threats like Putin of Russia or Kim Jong-un of North Korea is the end of humanity.
I absolutely think that a nuclear war is crazy and should never happen.
3. Let's love my child more
Do you want to contribute to the future of humanity? If so, hug your child often

In the author's article, I heard the following statement from neuropsychologist James Prescott.
People who have not experienced enough love through skin contact during either of the two critical stages of life, infancy or adulthood, are prone to violence.

I would like to provide additional information about this article. Psychoanalyst René Arpad Spitz (1887-1974) took care of abandoned children born in prisons in the 1940s. He said that although he provided a clean environment and sufficient food for the babies, babies who were raised in hospitals for more than 4 months began to show abnormal symptoms.
Then, he discovered something surprising at an orphanage in Mexico that he happened to visit.
The orphanage was unsanitary and did not provide sufficient food, but he confirmed that the children were very healthy.
The difference between the two environments was that women from the neighborhood visited the orphanage in Mexico every day to play with the children, hug them, and sing to them.
As a result, I think we should do better for our children.
I personally think that the reason children run away from home is because they hate home, and if they hate home, it means they hate their parents.
So, isn't the reason children run away from home because of the parents?
I think it's better to raise children in a way that suits you and your children, rather than trying to raise them the same way as others.
I personally think that raising children is not about money, but about love.
